This extraordinary specialty pepper comes from a strictly protected nature reserve in the highlands of the Malabar Coast, located in the state of Kerala in the very south-western India. It is grown by small producer groups far away from any civilization. The cultivating area is also known for its rich biodiversity, which has wild tigers and elephants. The harvested volumes are very low for this traditional pepper plant, but the levels of flavor and aroma substances such as essential oils significantly higher than most peppers. The pepper is hand-plowed and sun-dried.
Our organic tiger pepper from the Indian Malabar coast was cold smoked for several days with beech smoke. Freshly ground, distinctive beech smoke flavours mix with the aromas of the finest pepper specialities.
The tiger pepper should always be freshly ground before used, goes extremely well with roast meat, fish, stew and sauces. Adds another distinct smoky flavor to dishes!
