Most salts in the world are extracted from the sea(sea salt), the blue salt also knows as Persian blue salt is instead a salt fossile or gem, formed 100 million years ago in the precambrian sea. The iconic blue hint from the salt originates from a mineral name sylvinite, a potassium mineral, which are usually pink in color, yet in extreme case will turn blue as well, hence the rarity of blue salt. Only a few tonnes of blue salt are mined from the Ergourz mountain range each year, increasing it rarity at the same time.
